Bite mosquito treatment
Nothing can keep you awake at night in the heat of the summer like a horrible itchy red mosquito bite. There are several bite mosquito treatment options available to choose from. The most popular bite mosquito treatment is probably calamine lotion, but there are other types of salves that can ease the pain and itch.
What most people dont know is that it is only the female mosquito that actually bites. The bite is not really a bite, but an allergic reaction to the saliva that the mosquito injects into your skin before she begins to suck your blood. The mosquito injects the saliva to keep your blood from coagulating around her proboscis, or needlelike nose. Sometimes you may not need a bite mosquito treatment until many hours or even a day has lapsed since the bite. Some people have become immune to the saliva and dont suffer from any itching welts.
Other options for bite mosquito treatment include these topical applications: tea tree oil, backing soda and water, raw garlic, aloe vera gel, toothpaste or hemorrhoid cream, or cold compresses to sooth the heat. Scratching a bite will only make it worse, and can cause scarring and further infection, so try to keep your hands off the bite!
