Mosquito repellents
There are so many mosquito repellents on the market, you may find yourself having a hard time choosing between many popular brands. The most important thing to remember when selecting your mosquito repellents is to check the ingredients. Be sure to buy a spray or lotion that contains the active ingredient, DEET. DEET blocks your human scents so that mosquitoes cannot �smell� you out.
Many top name brand mosquito repellents also contain UV sunscreen, to protect your skin from skin cancer. There are even repellents that come in colored lotions so that you can make sure you have properly covered your exposed skin before heading out on your family picnic in the woods.
If you plan to do a lot of heavy activity where you will be sweating a lot, or you are going to be swimming a lot, be sure to bring your mosquito repellents with you for re-applying. Many repellents contain different strengths of DEET and are only good for the recommended time period that is listed on the bottles, so be sure to apply as often as needed. You can also keep mosquitoes from biting you by wearing protective long sleeved shirts and pants, or netting head wear such as a hat with netting.
