Mosquito
Most people are aware of all the various household and outdoor pests, and many would complain that the mosquito is by far the worst. Suffering from a mosquito bite can be more than just annoying! Sometimes, no matter how much repellant you put on, or how many citronella candles you burn around your campsite, you are still at the mercy of these little pesky critters.
The word mosquito comes from the Spanish word meaning little fly. But these little insects are far worse than just little flies. Many of these insects can carry and transmit serious diseases to farm animals and humans. Among the most dangerous diseases are malaria, West Nile virus, and encephalitis among others.
Because the mosquito goes through four stages of growth, the egg raft, larva, pupa, and adult, you may need various types of control to rid your area of them. Repellants, traps, barriers, foggers and oils may keep the adults from biting you and your loved ones. Many pet owners are also concerned with the risk of heartworm in dogs, which is associated with mosquito larvae. Protect your pet with adequate medications, especially if you are in a heavily infested area.
